Sonder Alpha 650b Wheelset

Sonder Alpha 650b is our performance disc brake wheelset built specifically for gravel and road adventure. They’ve been designed with long rides and endurance riding in mind.

Our alpha hubs are built to last, a durable 4 pawl setup with a 30 tooth ratchet ring gives 12 degrees between each engagement. We’ve used a 4-pawl freehub for instant acceleration and maximum pedalling efficiency.  the wheels respond the minute you put the hammer down and save wasted watts.

Made from a premium KLM41 (6061) alloy, we’ve been able to maximise rim strength and stiffness for a lower weight. They’re also welded and pre-taped for a tubeless-ready set up to save more weight and reduce rolling resistance.

23mm wide the Alpha 650b wheels are optimised up to 47mm road or 2.2" MTB tyres. By using wider tubeless tyres you’ll be able to run lower pressures, giving you even better traction, improved comfort and reduced risk of pinched punctures. While they’re light, they stay super-strong because of a shorter spoke triangle.

We lace, build and finish all our wheels in our Nottingham factory, with each one getting a full quality control inspection. We’ve brought the build process in house from overseas to enable us to produce something truly special. We can over see the whole construction of our wheels and keep quality consistent, production efficient and reduce the impact on the planet by not shipping boxes of wheels around the world.
